* Bad Habits *

Bad habits are, well, bad; from time consuming, to unhealthy -- to just annoying. The worst thing about them is that they seem impossible to break, but luckily, they're not. There are "22 Other Ways" to break bad habits -- besides "trying", and here are the "22 Other Ways" (listed below)!

#1, Understand why you need to break the bad habit; you need to understand what makes it so bad.

#2, Don't tell yourself to try, tell yourself to make it happen; you don't need to try, you need to do it.

#3, Think about how much better your life will be once you've stopped, and think hard -- visualize it.

#4, Take up another hobby in replacement, that way -- whenever you want to go back to your bad habit -- you can do that instead.

#5, Set a date for when you're going to stop, and don't place the date on a holiday; this is serious.

#6, If you find your habit to be "impossible" to break, that's a sign you have a lack of self-control -- which is dangerous. Work on that, by controlling yourself against that habit.

#7, Whenever you think about your bad habit, think about something else -- quick!

#8, Reward yourself for everyday(week/month/year, whatever your preference is) you haven't given into your bad habit.

#9, Punish yourself every time you do give into your bad habit. (example: no [favorite thing -- TV, music, dessert, etc.] for a week.)

#10, Write down the time you officially decide to stop your bad habit, that way you know down to how many hours you've accomplished. Once you see what a roll you're on, it'll be hard to turn back around.

#11, Try to remember when and why you started the bad habit in the first place. Did it make you feel better at some point? What did you need to feel better from? Was something wrong? Is something still wrong? If so, fix it and maybe the habit will lose it's purpose and you'll lose desire for it.

#12, Pinch yourself, or snap a rubber band against your wrist, every time you think about your bad habit; it will make you want to stop thinking about it, if only so you can stop pinching yourself.

#13, Remember that you are physically able to stop at anytime; what's stopping you from stopping is all in your head.

#14, Write a list of every bad thing about your bad habit, and read it out loud every time you even think about giving into it; it will remind you of how bad it really is and cause you to lose interest.

#15, Tell someone what the habit is and that you're going to stop, someone you could never be dishonest to.

#16, Make a bet with someone that you will stop for a day(week/month/year, whatever your preference is), and have the other person bid against you; this will make you determined to stop. No cheating allowed.

#17, Stop with the intentions of writing a book/article about it afterwards, in order to encourage others who struggle with the same bad habit you do. Be a good example!

#18, There are online forums for most everything. Go to a forum related to your bad habit, and talk to the people there. Work together; encourage them to stop, and let them encourage you.

#19, Some bad habits are done unconsciously. Beware of when you're committing your bad habit, and remind yourself to stop.

#20, Ask a love one for some advice on it. Everyone is different, but your family (or best friends) know you practically as well as you do; they will know what advice is most suitable for you.

#21, Don't take it slow. (a.k.a. don't do the bad habit less and less and less, etc.) Choose a day to stop and then just stop; you're not trying to cut back, you're trying to quit here.

#22, Believe you can do it, because you can!

And that was the "22 Other Ways"!
